Managing Rivers for Life!
Nepal River Conservation Trust (NRCT) is organizing 4 days National River Summit 2017 jointly with Central Department of Environmental Science, Tribhuvan University (CDES-TU), Institute for Social and Environmental Transition – Nepal (ISET-N) and Youth Alliance for Environment (YAE) and collaborating with Aquatic Ecology Center, Kathmandu University (AES-KU). This is a continuation of the 1st National River Summit, held on 20-23 September 2014 at Sunkoshi beach camp Sindhupalchwok, Nepal.
Why the Second National River Summit
To act as a common platform for researchers, engineers, scientists, academicians, government officials and students on the issues of rivers. All stakeholders will share their state-of-the-art research and development work in the water and other fields related to water. The summit will feature a diverse mixture of interactive forums, technical sessions of high quality cutting-edge research articles; insightful key note speeches; panel discussion from domain experts, direct discussions with river community, farmers and students and the case studies, posters presentations on emerging ideas. The idea behind the summit is to create a conversation that leads to a legal basis for bringing all the various interests on rivers together so that we can conserve and manage them for both short term as well as long-term benefits.

The following are the objectives for the 2nd National River Summit 2017.
- To foster dialogue on rivers as continuation of the first river summit.
- To bring together stakeholders, both local and global expertise, to share knowledge, information, opportunities and threats to Nepal’s rivers.
- To provide framework and strategies for ecosystem revival, biodiversity conservation and restoration.
- To identify gaps in, knowledge and understanding of rivers and propose a strategy to fill the gaps.
- To create a forum for regular multi stakeholder discussions, ensure communication and raise public awareness for river conservation.

Scholarship for the Students
Scholarship to participate the summit will be given to 15 students from Colleges and Universities of Science faculties, but they need to send the motivational letter not more than 500 words for why they want to join this summit?
